Laidlaw sued for $1.4 million in South Carolina

Laidlaw Transit has been targeted by a $1.4 million lawsuit filed by the
Charleston County School District in South Carolina.
The school district claims that Laidlaw overcharged for its school bus
services during the past two years. According to the lawsuit, Laidlaw went
beyond the usual per-bus charges for magnet school transportation during the
1997-98 and 1998-99 school years.
Laidlaw officials told the Associated Press that its
unfortunate that the Charleston County School District has elected to
take this course of action. The Burlington, Ontario-based contractor said
it expects to win the case.
